Where: Web-based Training
Who Should Attend: This initiative will provide an interdisciplinary structure for training, implementation, and even institutionalization of this integrated training model to public health professionals and volunteers including, but not limited to, nurses, diabetes educators, pharmacists, cessation specialists, health care providers, social workers, and paraprofessionals.
Objectives:
- Increase the use of the Ask Advise Refer brief intervention in diabetes and tobacco programs
- Increase the use of PA cAARds among community based health care organizations
- Improve understanding of statewide and local resources for diabetes education and management and tobacco cessation services
- Improve understanding of integrated strategies and identify where organizations fit into the organizational integration continuum
Cost: There is no charge to attend this meeting.
Registration Includes: Materials and continuing education credits.
Continuing Education Credits/Contact Hours: The following continuing education credits and contact hours will be provided at no charge to participants: Nursing, Dietician (CPK), Social Worker, and General CEU's.
In order for participants to receive continuing education credits or contact hours, participants must attend the entire training and validate attendance by completing the post training evaluations. Credit certificates will be distributed via email (you MUST provide a valid email address.)
Nursing Accreditation
This activity is being co-provided with the University of Pittsurgh School of Nursing, who is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This activity has been approved for 3.25 contact hours.
Registered Dietician and/or Dietetic Technician Credits
This program has been approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration for 3.50 CPEUs.
Social Work Credits
This program is offered for 3.0 hours of Social Work continuing education through co-sponsorship of the University of Pittsburgh's School of Social Work, a Council on Social Work Education-accredited school and, therefore, a Pennsylvania pre-approved provider of social work continuing education. These credit hours satisfy the requirements for LSW/LCSW, LPC, and LMFT biennial license renewal. For information on social work continuing education call (412) 624-3711.
Continuing Education Units
The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 0.30 continuing education units (CEU's) which are equal to 3.0 contact hours to participating healthcare professionals.
