Integration Training Workshop for Central PA

Tackling Disparities through Tobacco Control & Chronic Disease Integration:
The why, what, and how for implementing integrated programs

This workshop will provide an opportunity for community-based organizations to explore the benefits of using an integrated program approach to combat disparities existing within diverse communities. Additionally, the workshop aims to demonstrate how integrating tobacco control and chronic disease programs can help make your programs stronger and more sustainable. Discussion will focus on the following topics:

  • Why the changing climate is creating a push toward integrated tobacco control and chronic disease programs in order to reach more disparately impacted communities
  • What opportunities are created in integrating tobacco control and chronic disease programs
  • How to overcome challenges with policy and financial sustainability planning
      ~We are offering this workshop in 2 components: Workshop A and B~

Workshop A (morning): Programmatic Steps for Integrating Tobacco Control and Chronic Disease Programs will provide a program level perspective designed for all staff levels. It will also provide the foundation for Workshop B. The following are objectives for Workshop A:

  • To better understand the benefits of tobacco control and chronic disease integration when serving disparately impacted communities
  • To learn population and funding trends that support programmatic integration
  • To learn practical strategies that will help facilitate programmatic integration
Workshop B (afternoon): Organizational Change for Integrating Tobacco Control and Chronic Disease Programs will provide an organizational policy perspective designed for program and organizational decision makers. The following are objectives for Workshop B:

  • To better understand the organizational benefits of tobacco control and chronic disease integration
  • To assess organizational readiness for tobacco control and chronic disease integration
  • To develop organizational strategies to help facilitate tobacco and chronic disease integration
