Web Conference Announcement: Grant Proposal Writing
Course description This course introduces the basic components of a grant proposal, focusing on how to establish credibility, convey need, clearly define objectives and methods, and construct a budget that supports the narrative. In addition, it describes the underlying intent and nature of proposals and how to prepare cover letters and addendum materials. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: · Define a grant proposal and the differences between grant seeking and fundraising · Explain the four functions of a proposal · Identify the fundamental components of a proposal and what information should be presented in each · Describe the contents of a cover letter · Explain the uses of an appendix and what information it should contain Target Audience The target audience for this course is nurses, public health officials, and public health educators who may be in a position to develop a grant proposal for funding. Date, time, and location The course will be held as a webinar on Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 1 – 2:30 pm EST. You may view it from any pc with phone access. You may also attend the site with live speaker at 130 DeSoto Street, room 109, Pittsburgh, PA 15261. Course details Participants will dial in via conference call at the designated time and connect to a web site (from a computer at the location of their choice) to view the PowerPoint slides and hear the presentation. A question and answer period with the instructor will follow the presentation. Instructor The instructor for this course is Brian A. Bell, MBA, Adjunct Professor, Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, University of Pittsburgh. Cost $25.00. The Payment Form, provided in Step 2 of the OhioTRAIN registration process, must be sent with payment in the form of a Purchase Order, 100W, or check.. Payment may also be made by credit card. The link for credit card payment can be found at the bottom of the Payment Form. Continuing Education Application has been submitted for continuing education to the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. and the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Registration To register for this training, log on to OhioTRAIN at https://oh.train.org and enter Course ID# 1013921 in the ‘Course ID #’ box, press . Click the course title to open the course description. Click the Registration tab and follow the prompts to register for this course. Remember the Payment Form and credit card payment link are provided in Step 2 of the registration process. If you do not have a TRAIN account (accounts are free): Click the Create Account button on the left menu. Fill in the required fields as instructed, and then click Submit. Record your username and password for future reference. You must still send your payment directly to the Office of Workforce Development or pay with credit card. The deadline for registration is Thursday, August 21, 2008. Registration will occur on a first come first served basis. Once a participant has registered for the web conference, information for the conference call and instructions on connecting to the web site will be sent via email. Cancellations and refunds All cancellations are subject to a $10.00 cancellation fee. Refund requests will not be honored if received Friday, August 22, 2008 or later. Substitutions are welcome. The Office of Workforce Development (OWD) reserves the right to cancel a training/workshop/event if there is insufficient enrollment. If OWD cancels an event, registrants will receive a full refund.
